AT COPPER HILLS HIGH SCHOOL...
Students are strongly encouraged to create a distraction free environment when they are out on the road. Today, cell-phones are huge distractions for many students. We want the student body at Copper Hills High School to drive distraction-free.

Sophomores at Copper Hills High School often take Driver's Education. And those who don't, most often will take it their Junior and Senior years. In that class, students are frequently encouraged not to text and drive. |
Unfortunately, as time passes, students begin to forget the warnings that they are told in class. They begin to feel more comfortable with texting and driving. They think that they'll never get into an accident. One tiny peek at your cell-phone, however, while you're behind the wheel, could change your life forever. |
In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you."
-Sharon Heit, mother of texting while driving victim
WHAT YOU CAN DO
If you find yourself using your phone while driving, put it away and focus on the road. If it has become habitual for you, put your phone someplace you cannot reach it. If you have someone in the car with you, you can give it to them.
If you are a passenger and the driver pulls out his or her cell-phone multiple times during the drive, offer to hold onto the phone for him or her until you reach your destination.
